Cleary Bikes are expressly designed to give your children the best riding experience. Gone are the days of 40lb coaster brake equipped kids bikes. It is possible to buy kids bikes for less, but it is very difficult to compare them with the quality available here. Child sized brake levers, internal cable routing to help with reducing maintenance and lightweight frames help your child to ride farther and faster.
First up, the Starfish push bike:
12″ tires with tubes, instead of the foam tires present on most push bikes. There is a reason why adults are not riding around on foam tires, kids should not have either. The most exciting feature are the child sized brake levers. As your child learns how to balance, they are also learning how to use handbrakes to stop, rather than dragging their feet.
Next up, the Gecko:
This is very similar to the Starfish, with 12″ tires, but is a complete bike with a pedal driven drivetrain. Paired with your child, the cutest thing on two wheels.
Next stop, The Hedgehog:
The big change from the Gecko is in the size of wheels, which increase to 16″ tires.
Last, but not least, the Owl:
20″ wheels help your child to conquer the playground and trail. Looking at this bike can actually create envy from adult riders, as they wish that Cleary made bikes in an adult size. Not so imaginable when looking at the swill on the shelf at department stores, nor when looking at the typical big brand bikes.
More to come:
The rumor mill suggests that Cleary will be releasing a geared 24″ inch bike in the next year. While it may seem easy to balk at the single speeds offered above, it is important to remember that small tires spin easier, and that adding shifting to a bike before a child is ready offers more distractions than benefits.
We know that these bikes are not inexpensive, but there overall quality encourages a lifetime of use. When your child is ready for the next size, come see talk to us about our trade in program.
